To ensure the information remains up-to-date, smartive has expanded the service finder to include a calendar that external organizers can update themselves via Magic Link. The “Growing Older in Fricktal” team reviews the entries and maintains an overview without much additional effort.

What challenge did the Fricktal region face as its population aged?

“Aging in the Fricktal” needed a calendar of events that stays up to date. In the Fricktal region, there are ongoing courses, social gatherings, lectures, exercise programs, and counseling sessions for older adults and their families. These are valuable for the participants, but they require a lot of effort from the “Aging in the Fricktal” team.

Creating a calendar is quick and easy. The real challenge is keeping it up to date, since many event organizers are constantly adding new dates or changing existing ones.

How can external partners enter their own events?

On the “Älterwerden im Fricktal” website, external organizers can add and update their events via Magic Link—no account or password required. To make this possible, we’ve expanded the existing event finder to include an event calendar. Organizers can set up recurring events as a series of dates.

Running in the background is Eventless, smartive’s event platform. Eventless manages the events and delivers them via API in the “Aging in the Fricktal” design. The team reviews and moderates the listings.

How can an events calendar grow without the effort required to maintain it also increasing?

Bei Älterwerden im Fricktal pflegen die Veranstalter ihre Events selbst, darum muss das Team keine E-Mails abtippen und keine Korrekturen nachziehen. Es prüft die Einträge und behält den Überblick. So kann der Kalender wachsen, ohne dass der Aufwand im gleichen Mass mitwächst.

Davon profitieren auch die Nutzenden. Die Events sind aktueller, weil sie dort gepflegt werden, wo die Informationen entstehen. Ältere Menschen und ihre Angehörigen finden leichter Zugang zu regionalen Angeboten, und Veranstalter kommen auf einfachem Weg auf die Plattform.

How can you open up a system to external partners without losing control?

On the “Älterwerden im Fricktal” website, external event organizers manage their events via a Magic Link and therefore do not become backend users. The events are hosted on Eventless, smartive’s event platform, separate from the CMS. Via an API, they appear in the “Älterwerden im Fricktal” design, ensuring that even external content maintains a consistent look. This way, the calendar is open to many contributors while remaining manageable for the team.
