An event calendar is only useful if it stays up to date.

To support aging in place in the Fricktal region, we’ve expanded our existing event finder to include a calendar that external organizers can update themselves. Eventless handles the event management behind the scenes: Magic Link instead of accounts, self-service instead of back-and-forth emails, and control instead of chaos.

About EventlessTo the Event Calendar

Background

The Fricktal region regularly hosts events for older adults and their families, including classes, social gatherings, lectures, exercise programs, and counseling sessions.

These features are valuable to users. For platform operators, they are challenging. After all, a calendar is quick to set up, but it doesn't automatically stay up to date.

Many organizers, many dates, many changes. That’s exactly where the real work comes in.

Idea

The platform doesn't manage every event. The organizers do it themselves.

We shift responsibility to where the information is created—while still giving the platform the necessary control. Self-service instead of copy-paste.

Solution

We are expanding the existing platform with Eventless. External organizers can add and update their events via Magic Link without needing their own account.

Eventless handles the event logic and delivers the data via API to the "Aging in Fricktal" platform. The platform operators monitor, manage, and maintain an overview.

External event organizers receive a Magic Link. They can use it to manage their event themselves. No new account. No password. No complicated backend. This makes it much easier to get started.

Platform operators don't have to retype every email or track every correction. They review, manage, and maintain control. The result is a calendar that isn't tied to administrative tasks.

Why this is a game-changer

With a platform, it’s not just about what’s built. It’s also about how much effort is required to maintain it. An events calendar can quickly become an ongoing task. The more successful it is, the more events are added. More events usually mean more administrative work.

With Eventless, the calendar grows without the workload increasing proportionally. Event organizers manage their own content, keeping the platform up to date.

Complexity

The technical task sounds straightforward: display events.

The real complexity lies in the roles and processes. Who is authorized to create events? Who edits them later? How do we maintain high quality? How do we prevent information from becoming outdated? How do we integrate external content without making the platform look disjointed?

Eventless addresses these issues with a clear structure. Events are managed separately from the CMS, delivered via an API, and displayed within the platform’s design. The Magic Link process enables external maintenance without turning every event organizer into a backend user.

This way, the system remains open to many participants, yet remains manageable for the platform operators.

Result

"Growing Older in Fricktal" is getting an events calendar that does more than just list dates.

It involves external organizers. It distributes administrative tasks efficiently. It keeps events up to date. And it raises the profile of regional events without overburdening the administration.

Users gain better access to connections, knowledge, and support. Platform operators benefit from streamlined operations. Event organizers gain an easy way to get on the platform.
