As Switzerland's largest retailer, Migros relies on smooth processes in the supply chain. Orders from external suppliers should be processed as efficiently as possible and entered into the company's own merchandise management system.

Short and crisp

  • Digitization of the supply chain leads to process optimization with high savings (over 700 person days).
  • From idea to MVP in 3 months
  • New features are delivered quickly, easily and independently of manufacturers.
  • By automating the processes, the data quality is higher, which enables further optimization of the processes.

Twice as fast - and twice as fast.

The centerpiece is a Progressive Web App - PWA for short. The globally unique barcode (GS1-128) of a crate is scanned with the smartphone camera, the goods shown on the display are filled in and checked off. The assignment (what quantity of what is where?) takes place in the background.

A test run showed huge potential: shipping could be processed twice as fast - but work steps can also be saved at Migros, where the goods are received. The next step is to expand the system to five suppliers and then introduce it in other Migros cooperatives.

More overview, less duplication

The Migros Supply Chain App not only simplifies the linking of data and boxes of goods, but also ensures an optimal flow of data.

On the one hand, the customer (Migros) now knows where the goods are at all times, as they are assigned to a container. This gives them an overview of the logistics process: What is being delivered? What is ready? What is on the way? What cannot be delivered?

On the other hand, the data is now transmitted in the format required by Migros (structured data). This eliminates the need to re-record the delivered goods on receipt. It is already clear which parcels go to which stores. Duplication of work is eliminated.
